About Us
Hi there! My name is Shankar and I am going to tell you about Bookmemark and the team behind it.
It all started in September 2006. We had faced these and many other similar scenarios as our dependence on the web increased by the day. I am sure you faced some of these as well.
Scenario 1:
I was surfing for some information and my IE favorites were already a comprehensive list by then. I had saved some links and wanted to retrieve it. After growing up on Google, it was just too tough without a search. There had to be a simpler way than this!
Scenario 2:
For an average net user, we used to save/share at least 5-10 links every week with friends, to check out something on the web, some informative site or jus a cool site to pass your time. What happens then? After a week or so, the links are buried deep in the inbox and frankly, I wouldn't even care to remember the names of the links to search for them later. There had to be an effective way than this!
Scenario 3:
World Wide Web (www) is really wide. Even within our friends' network, we had many interesting sources for the same topic. Everyone had some favorite sites and almost half of the sources were not known earlier to others. If only, there were reliable yellow pages for the web.
There are around 40,000 new sites coming up each day and a large chunk of them are really interesting and useful. We wanted to have an index of good bookmarks – separating the chaff from the wheat and also a cool place to hang out on the web.
We didn't know about other sites that were offering this already. That was good in a way because our basic idea was not influenced or cluttered by looking at some of those sites. Today, when we look at all these sites- I can proudly say that Bookmemark is one of the best out there for a persono-socio bookmarking experience.
So, this was how Bookmemark came into existence
We are a small sized team (<5 in total) who are hell bent in giving an awesome experience to our users. We have a long wish list and are going to keep adding new features and functionalities.
